Italy and the UAE will jointly produce a $30 million film to pay tribute to the life of great Persian mystic Jalaluddin Mohammad Mowlavi.
The Italian company, Istar Production, has reached an agreement with Dubai's D-Seven Motion Pictures (headed by Nayla al Khaja, UAE's first independent female film producer) for the realization of the grand project.
Three-time Academy Award winner and cinematographer Vittorio Storaro will take part in the project, which will be directed by celebrated Indian filmmaker Muzaffar Ali. The film production has also received formal support from UNESCO.
"It will be an international production to tell the story of a poet that after 8 centuries still inspires us," said Igor Uboldi, a representative from Istar Productions.
"At a time when Islam is at the center of misconceptions, Mowlavi opens the doors of a world where Islam always means love, never hatred."
